The milky way is not often visible from South Florida. However, a strong cold front cleared the air of clouds and much of the humidity and opened the sky up to a beautiful starry night. The vegetation provided a wonderful front-drop to our home constellation.
This image received third place in the 2015 Florida Birding and Photo Festival celebrated each year in St. Augustine, Florida.

A long and freezing hike in the darkness leads to an absolutely beautiful sunrise in the Rocky Mountains National Park in Colorado. The warm light bathes the distant cliffs with its color and the clear, cloudless, morning creates a dramatic contrast with the sheer rock of the mountains.
Had a wonderful time capturing and creating this image in 5 feet of chilli water (for Florida standards!) See my blog at http://www.andresleonphoto.com/blog/2016/1/11/about-this-photo-cypress-knee-in-fisheating-creek
The sun rises and shines its splendorous lights over the clouds and beyond the horizon. Taken at Matheson Hammock Park in Miami, Fl.
The morning when this shot was taken proved particularly challenging. Hoping to catch the sunrise behind some very interesting cloud formations out in the horizon, the scenery changed the sunrise was far less interesting than I hoped. Although, to be perfectly honest, every sunrise in South Florida is a wonderful experience :)
I decided to stay a little later than usual as I noticed the tide was rising and the water was interestingly active. The coral cove reef rocks were being hammered by the water and realized that these splashes would make a very interesting image. So i stayed and took several hundred shots. This one is my favorite. It shows the amazing power water has to create and shape a truly dynamic sense of movement and action.
One of my most favorite images from my camping trip to Dry Tortugas National Park. These windows were used to position large canons to protect the fort from attacks. These formidable walls show gorgeous details with the use of High Dynamic Range techniques to blend exposures together. I find the warm and rustic tones each bricks shows to contrast wonderfully with the soft and calm blue hues from the ocean and the horizon beyond the walls.
A strikingly beautiful and vibrant sunrise capture from Blowing Rocks Preserve in Jupiter, Florida. The fog around the rocks is really the effect water creates after a the camera sensor is exposed to a long exposure. This image is the result of blending three different exposures to help accentuate the beautiful colors and details of the surrounding.
